Thank you Pop Up Milers. We run Tuesday!
We'll run this one for Jenny.
Runners,
Tuesday was heavy. No other way to put it. The Sir Walter team is very thankful for Matt Robertson, Callan Fike, Kellie Davis, Ivy and Joey Pointer and all the first responders that stepped in and took charge when a runner went down. That runner was our guest of honor, Jenny Simpson. We are very thankful that off the track, Jenny has been in excellent care of the best medical professionals in the country. You can read the latest update from Jenny’s employer (Fleet Feet) here.
All that said, we are going to do things a little differently Tuesday. We’ll do the 3 Mile heats as usual. Then we’ll have a few heats of the 400m for anyone who wishes to run. And then we’ll run a celebratory mile for Jenny. We’ll have a big banner to sign and we’ll take a photo to send her. No 4x400 Tuesday, but we will have one more Friday night at the Sir Walter Qualifier aka the Pop Up Miles Championship.
About the SWQ… It’s Friday night at Meredith College, the home of the Sir Walter Miler. We’ll have an Open Mile for anyone. Then we’ll have Men’s and Women’s Championship Miles. We’ll chase that with a 4x400 meter relay open to anyone, and then we’ll have a season ending gathering across the street at Raleigh Brewing.
Still want to qualify? If you are on the list below, you’re in (stay ready alternates). If you run faster than 4:35 (M) and 5:35 (F) on Tuesday, you’re in.
PS. Results and Photos (from John Ruggero) from last Tuesday are here.
PPS. Get CPR Certified through the Red Cross. You could save a life. Classes here!
With Love,
The Sir Walter Team
