Runners,
Thanks for making the first two weeks of the 2024 Pop Up Miles series a huge success! We had more ‘official’ finishers last week than we’ve had an event in 10 years of doing them. So thanks for coming out. Tell your friends this is the last ‘regular season’ Pop Up event, but we’ll have the same schedule next week for the Sir Walter Qualifier (on Wednesday, June 26 at Meredith)!
In the ‘Did you know’ file: The connector from the Crabtree Creek greenway to Umstead Park is now open. Expect a grueling ‘Tour de Walter’ stage next month.
Back to the Pop Ups —> we're at Williams Stadium again this week, behind Athens Drive High School (and near Lake Johnson rear entrance)! This track is all weather/rubberized, so spikes are permitted! The track opens at 6pm. Last weeks results, photos, and finish videos are here. Wondering about the Sir Walter Qualifier? Standings are below (and here)!
So for Tuesday night, we have 800’s….
Race Order
7:00pm - Over 5:30 Mile
7:10pm - Under 5:29 Mile
7:20pm - Over 2:40 800 meters
7:30pm - Under 2:40 800 meters
7:40pm - 4x400 - We'll provide batons, so pick your teams at the track!
10 Helpful Reminders
1. This is a Pop Up Miles event. Please bring your own water/sports drinks. But Maurten will be in attendance again, as well!
2. Please dispose of all trash properly. We're all in this together.
3. We will have access to bathrooms. Maybe bring your own TP, just in case.
4. Ask mentioned above, renting the track each week costs Sir Walter Running $250, so please bring a small donation (or do so online). We have a Venmo too! @SirWalterMiler
5. We'll have a clock and will be calling splits. You'll need to sign in your time after your race completes. This is how we post results. Honor system.
6. We will have a waiver for you to sign saying you are running on your own accord.
7. Results (and standings) will be posted at PopUpMiles.com
We’re excited to have the support from Puma Running, Puma Elite, Maurten, and ChicknLegs this year. Each week we’ll have athletes from Puma Elite in attendance and prizes will be up for grabs! Maurten will have their industry-leading nutrition samples available for all. It’s going to be a great Summer of Miles!
